Trainings/Certifications:  DONA Trained Birth and Postpartum Doula, Red Cross Infant/Child
First Aid & CPR

Philosophy:  My heart is to provide an "extra set of hands" that serve the mother and her family
as they transition from birth to postpartum.  Empowering the mother to communicate her needs
and feel supported in her choices is a huge part of this.  Another very vital part is standing by
and encouraging the family through this journey.  I want to be a resource of information and
encouragement, but not a crutch.  By offering assistance with cooking, laundry, organizing, and
other vital parts of the household, the family is then able to rest and bond with the new member.
By offering access to resources, I can also help the family to connect with support for any long
term needs that they may have.

Bio:  I am originally from Oregon and have lived in Charlotte for 9 years.  I have more than 20
years experience working with children and families as a childcare provider and as a full-time
nanny.  I have worked within a single parent home, newborn twins, and most recently in a home
with a set of twins, one of which has special needs.  I have recently finished all of the
requirements for my certification with DONA as both a Postpartum and Labor Doula and will be
working to finish my certification with CAPPA as a Labor Doula.  I am also a certified swim
instruction with the Red Cross.  All of these positions have impressed upon me the desire to
continue to support and encourage mothers and families in a time when it is most vital.  I look
forward to finding the rhythm of each family that I assist and supporting them in whatever way
that I am able.

How many families do you serve each year?  8-10 families

How long do you work with postpartum families?  I typically provide 1 prenatal visit, followed
by 2 to 4 visits (3-4 hours each) per week for up to 4 weeks.  As the need for support decreases
the days per week can also decrease.  Additional weeks can be discussed, if there is a need and
it does not conflict with other clients that I may be preparing to support.

What areas do you serve?  The greater Charlotte area and northern South Carolina
