Trainings/Certifications:  Personal postpartum experience
and breastfeeding, DONA trained Birth Doula, previous
experience with families postpartum (including twins)

Bio:  I am married and have a daughter that I stay home with.
I was lucky enough to have my mother for help before, during
and after her birth.   Mom still helps out quite a bit over four years later.  I can barely imagine
how hard it would have been to do it all without family support.  I am very fortunate and grateful.
Therefore, I have empathy and compassion for families that have limited or no assistance.  I very
much enjoy working with parents and helping them enjoy to the fullest those first precious weeks
with their baby.

Philosophy:  The postpartum period can be very exciting and also challenging for parents.  All
family members have to adjust and form a relationship with the new member.  The more practical
side of caring for a newborn (laundry, diapers, etc.) has to be incorporated into daily life as well.
I believe the role of a postpartum doula can cover many areas and it can differ from one family to
another.  I tailor my services to suit the family I am currently working with and continue to adapt
as needs develop.  I offer non-judgmental support in many areas such as breastfeeding,
newborn care and sleep patterns, light housekeeping, preparing meals, grocery shopping, etc.

How long do you work with families?  This varies based on the needs of the family.  Ideally, a
prenatal visit can be an opportunity for questions and helps establish expectations, although it is
not essential.  Postpartum, I can work up to five days a week, six hours a day and gradually
decrease days per week and/or hours per day.  I have also worked as few as three hours just to
answer questions.

How many families do you serve a year?  4-5

What areas do you serve?  The greater Charlotte area and upper South Carolina
