Bio: I am the stay at home mother of 2 wonderful children, and while the births of my children
were monumental moments in my life my birth experiences were somewhat lacking. I believe
strongly that every couple should have a birth experience that reflects (as closely as possible)
their wants and needs. This is why in April of 2007 I decided to pursue the role of Doula and
Childbirth Educator. Helping couples through the magical journey of childbirth is one of the most
rewarding things I have ever done.
Philosophy: The birth of a child is a magical life changing event for both the mother to be and
her partner. It is not only a physical triumph, but an emotional and spiritual journey. Women have
an innate ability to give birth and have the right to chose what they feel is best for themselves as
well as their babies. I feel that education and continuous labor support play a vital role in
determining the birth experiences of women.
As your Doula I will provide both you and your partner with professional labor assistance. You
will be provided with comfort measures, emotional support, educational resources and support
during your entire labor and birthing experience. Together we will work to develop your birth
wishes. I will encourage you to draw on your own strength while providing your partner with
nurturing and encouragement, thus complementing rather than replacing this critical role.
How many births do you attend? My goal is 24-36 per year
I serve women birthing in these hospitals: Piedmont Medical Center (Rock Hill), Carolina
Medical Center (Pineville), Presbyterian (Matthews)
How many prenatal and postpartum visits do you provide? 2 prenatal and 1 postpartum, if
my new mothers feel they need an additional postpartum visit one can be provided.
