Bio: I live in Charlotte (yes, a native!) with my
husband and my 3 children, a daughter and two
sons ages 17, 10 and 10 months. I also have an 8 year old stepson. I have truly experienced the
changes in birth in Charlotte over the decades. I have worked in the corporate health and fitness
environment for 6 years, but felt called to become a doula after my last birth. My second birth
was a c-section and upon becoming pregnant with my third, I finally put away all the “popular”
pregnancy books and began reading books by Ina May Gaskin and Sheila Kitzinger. I was
inspired by the stories of empowered natural births and there my journey began. Despite the fact
that a VBAC is not as easy to “choose” for yourself anymore, I was thrilled that my third birth was
indeed vaginal. What a healing experience! Birth is beautiful and fascinating to me now and I
just have to share that with others!
Philosophy: Birth is a process that happens naturally. Though the medical advances of today have saved
many babies, it has also brought a spirit of fear and trepidation to many women with very normal pregnancies.
Many women are left feeling powerless to create their own birth experience. Much like a piece of art, each birth
has its own unique design and process. In many cultures and in ages past, women have empowered each
other in that process serving as overseers, an encourager and comforters. It is a privilege to be called into birth
with mom and dad to provide that extra splash of color that creates a beautiful experience.
How many births do you attend a year? no set number
I serve clients birthing in these hospitals: Charlotte and surrounding area, homebirths
welcome
How many prenatal and postpartum visits do you provide? 2 prenatal and 1 postpartum,
more if necessary
Additional Services: Prenatal yoga, pre and postnatal fitness plans, wellness coaching
throughout and after pregnancy, support for moms of babies with colic.
