Bio: I have always been passionate about the maternal body and the
magical wonders it can perform but this path did not find me until the
birth of my daughter in 1999 and even then I did not follow with my heart.
I was wrapped up in life and paying the bills with the corporate job. After being threatened with repeated layoffs I
decided it was time to change and do something fulfilling. This is my true calling and I have never been happier.
My daughter is very proud of me for making the changes I needed and following my heart. I am an opened
minded, non-judgmental person who is flexible and believes life can be fun even during difficult times. The most
challenging of times can be the most rewarding.
Philosophy: I believe our culture has made women fearful of birth when in reality it is one of the most naturally
beautiful progressions in life. In today’s medical world the process of making birth decisions has been
removed. As your doula, I can assist with education; empowerment and pain management so you can be part
of the process needed make the best decisions for you and your baby. The hospital staff has many patients and
can not be with the laboring mom more than a few moments at a time. I am with the parents during the entire
labor and birth, giving my full attention and emotional support reducing anxiety and the need for intervention. I
truly believe that women can have a wonderful birth their way, which helps bring the family closer together.
How many births do you attend a year? I do not have set number, please contact me for availability
I serve women birthing in these hospitals: Mecklenburg and surrounding counties, the Birth Center and
home births
How many prenatal and postpartum visits do you provide? 1 consultation, 2 prenatal and 1 postnatal
Additional Services: Breastfeeding support, Reiki, Homeopathic therapy and Baby showers
