Bio: I have a BA in Early Childhood Education and I have taught in a
preschool for almost 20 years. I worked with babies, taught three-year
preschool and kindergarten. I have been married over 30 years and
have two grown children, both married, and one grandchild. I became
a birth doula at the end of 2004 after many years of fascination with birth.
Philosophy: I believe that the birth process is an amazing miracle that should be revered and embraced. A
woman's pregnancy and birth experience is something she never forgets and I feel like it affects the rest of her
life either negatively or positively. My goal as a doula is to nurture, support and encourage a birthing woman to
have a birth memory that she cherishes. As a Christian, I pray for my clients during their pregnancy and birth. I
have worked with women with partners and women who were alone and it is an honor to be part of the
experience.
How many births do you attend a year? 6-8
I serve women birthing at these hospitals: CMC- Pineville, CMC-Main, Presbyterian uptown and Matthews
How many prenatal and postpartum visits do you provide? Two prenatal and one-two postpartum,
depending on need.
