Philosophy:  I believe birth is a natural, normal process and that we
are designed to carry, birth and feed our children. I think education is
the key to overcoming fears about birth.  A part of the doula's role is
to help families gather the information needed to make informed,
confident choices and to provide non-judgmental support.  I believe a
woman should be able to choose how, where and with whom she wants
to labor.  Women's bodies, spirit and what is done to her physically and emotionally during her pregnancy and
birth matters.  I believe women deserve to be treated with respect and dignity at all times and especially during
the labor and delivery of her child.  Women remember birth experiences for the rest of their lives.  It should be a
pleasant, cherished memory.  The experience of birth should leave you feeling empowered and confident. I feel
that teaching and working with women during pregnancy, birth and postpartum is a part of my life purpose.  I
enjoy supporting women to achieve the most positive birth experience possible. I live south of Charlotte, NC and
will be working a 40-mile radius.

Bio:  I am married and have two children.  I am fortunate to be able to stay home with my kids and pursue being
a doula, midwife and herbalist among other things.  I have spent many hours reading about and researching
pregnancy and childbirth.  I was with a good friend when she delivered her son at home in September of 2002.
Based on being with her and all that I had learned, I choose to give birth to my daughter at home in March of
2004.  Since then I have continued to study and learn everything I can on many parenting topics, especially
birth.  I have become a doula and attended many births in the Charlotte area hospitals and at home.  In October
of 2008 I gave birth to my son at home. These experiences have helped me to understand the role of doulas
and the importance of this work.
