HAPPENINGS
NEW & EXPECTANT PARENTS

Homebirth Meeting
All mothers pregnant and not pregnant are
welcome to our open format and discussion of
home births. There will be a short "testimony"
from several women that have home birthed, then
an open floor for you to ask all your burning
questions.

Damaris Pittman a fantastic local midwife that has
been doing homebirths for around 20 years will
be here to answer questions (As long as she isn't
at a birth).

We are also going to have another non-practicing
midwife that has also had a homebirth, as well as
a local doula.
A quick references sheet about natural birthing
options, video resources, web site resources etc.
Information on a local birth center will be given out.

What:  New hope, understanding, support, and education
for Charlotte families struggling with a locally challenging
birth climate and traumatic birth experiences.  1 in 3
women give birth via cesarean section and this rate is
rising. 1 in 20 women experience traumatic stress
following birth. Rates of Post Partum Depression (PPD)
are on the rise. Women's options in birth are increasingly
limited, especially in the Charlotte area where it is
rumored that some local hospitals are looking to impose
limitations on Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC).
